Planting Seeds of Hope

Plant a Row for the Hungry

Cultivating and tasting homegrown, sun-ripened vegetables and herbs can be soothing to you and to your wallet. Late spring is the perfect time to plant tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, black-eyed peas, butter beans, snap peas, okra and eggplant. Plant an extra row of these veggies in your garden and donate it to one of our partner agencies. Don’t have a garden? A community garden is a great way to get started!

Honoring Bill Bolling

As our founder and executive director, Bill Bolling, is transitioning out of his role at the Food Bank, he is being honored in many ways. Earlier this week, leaders of different faiths came together to celebrate Bill and his work at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church - the place where the Food Bank got its start. See the photos from the ceremony on our Facebook page.

Stamp Out Hunger

Today, Sat. May 9, the National Association of Letter Carriers asks you to help Stamp Out Hunger! It’s not too late to put a bag of nonperishable food donations out at the mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up! Check out our most needed food item list for ideas of what you can grab out of your pantry.

#SNAPChallengeGA

Sunday marks the first day of the #SNAPChallengeGA, a joint effort between ACFB, Georgia Organics, Wholesome Wave Georgia, Community Farmers Markets and Georgia Food Oasis, to raise awareness about SNAP, or food stamps. Can you live on $4.17 a day for food? Join the challenge! And if you shop at a participating Wholesome Wave farmers market, your dollars double!
