Hunger Action Month is Here!

Hunger Action Month eNews

September is Hunger Action Month!

Whether it’s volunteering, hosting a food drive or spreading the word about the Food Bank, we need you to help us. Join ACFB and 200 Feeding America food banks across the nation to fight hunger during Hunger Action Month. Each September, you can download our 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar which shows the different ways you can take action each day of the month. Special thanks to Gas South for sponsoring Hunger Action Month and making many of these opportunities possible!

Join us at the Table

Earlier this year, the documentary “A Place at the Table” hit theaters and offered a glimpse into the lives of people who deal with hunger on a daily basis. We’ll be hosting two free screenings of the film: RSVP for September 10 (followed by an advocacy-based discussion) or September 22 (followed by a faith-based discussion). We hope the movie and discussion afterwards will inspire you to take action for hunger relief.

Talk About It

Hunger has a strong presence in our communities, but the conversation around it doesn’t -- You can help change that. Download ACFB's Recipe for Change toolkit and have a discussion with your family, friends or co-workers over a meal. The toolkit will provide you with hunger facts, recipes you can cook, and a kids’ activity to help get everyone involved.

Advocacy Champion

Advocacy Training

Passionate about shaping policy to fight hunger? Become an ACFB Advocacy Champion! Our next training is September 5, 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and features Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams. September is a critical advocacy month as the House is proposing a Farm Bill with $40 billion in cuts to SNAP. Be a strong voice for our Georgia neighbors and RSVP for advocacy training. Seating is limited.

Inman Park Restaurant Week

With September being Hunger Action Month, one night of Supper Club just isn’t going to cut it! That’s why we’re excited Inman Park Restaurant Week happens every September. The 13 participating restaurants will sell $1 raffle tickets with proceeds benefiting ACFB. You could win $600 worth of gift cards to the participating restaurants! Buy raffle tickets online now through September 29 or purchase them from your waiter September 23-29.
