AKMG Georgia 2nd Annual Holiday Food Drive
The Association of Kerala Medical Graduates (AKMG), founded in 1979, is the oldest association of Indian-American physicians and dental professionals in the United States. The association works to contribute back to the communities that have allowed its members to prosper in the United States and around the world. Humanitarian Services and Philanthropy are integral to the core mission of our group. Under the leadership of our outgoing President, Dr. Subramanya Bhat, and newly elected President, Dr. Nigil Haroon, AKMG is continuing our works of actively giving back in this time of need during the ongoing pandemic. To this end, the Georgia Chapter of AKMG is holding their 2nd Annual Holiday Food Drive. Our drive last year resulted in donations which provided 10,000 meals to those in need during a very difficult time in our nation. This year, we have set a goal of $4,000.00.
The Drive will be from December 1-December 31, and our target goal will allow meals for 16,000 people this holiday season!
More children, adults, and senior citizens in our community are going hungry as a result of this ongoing crisis. Those who were already struggling face even greater challenges — not only to be fed, but to stay healthy. Nourishing food is the most basic need for our vulnerable neighbors.
Your gift at this time is urgently needed and will help the Atlanta Community Food Bank:
Purchase emergency food to support increased food distributions across our network
Partner with schools to feed families who have lost access to school meals
Provide food boxes to homebound, at-risk seniors who can't leave home to purchase groceries
Deploy mobile food pantries to high-need areas of our community
Despite all the uncertainties and fears we have faced this year, AKMG held an amazingly successful annual conference in Atlanta this summer. It illustrated the great contributions AKMG members have made to their communities over the past year. We hope to continue the strong showing and cap the year off by helping those in the most need during the holiday season. We don’t know what the future holds, but we know your kindness is needed right now. Thank you!
